Frequently Asked Questions

Race Etiquette

In an effort to ensure maximum enjoyment of all participants involved, we ask that runners comply with standard race etiquette. This includes, lining up at the starting line according to expected race pace, giving right of way to faster runners along the course, and following guidelines given by race officials and volunteers.

As with any social setting, there are many subtle details included in proper etiquette. However, if you abstain from cutting sharply in front of a competitor, refrain from abruptly stopping in the middle of the course to tie your shoe, remember not to hinder others from acquiring water, and are aware of your basic social cues, you will be sure to enjoy yourself and make new friends.

USATF Certification

You can use your time from the 10K or 5K race as a race qualifier (for events like the Peachtree Road Race) because the race course is USATF certified.

Refunds

All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions except for Active Military with deployment orders.

*Prior to race day, we will allow active military with deployment orders to defer registration to a future GoGo Racing event. We will not provide a refund for the difference in pricing, and registrants are also responsible for any price increases or fees.

Packet Pickup

All participants must submit a signed Release & Indemnity Agreement to receive your runner packet and shirt. If you registered online and submitted the Release and Indemnity Agreement, then you do not need to bring a paper copy.

If you are under the age of 18, you must bring a copy of the Release & Indemnity Agreement signed by a parent or guardian to pick up your runner packet.

In order to pick up another participants packet, you must bring either a printed copy or email on a mobile device of their registration confirmation AND a signed copy of the Release & Indemnity Agreement if it was not signed during online registration. No exceptions.

Shirt Policy

Shirts are not guaranteed if you register within eight days of the race (but we are almost sure we can get you one anyway). No shirts or runner bags will be mailed out after the race, however they are oftentimes available at GoGo Sports.

Late Arrival

Due to safety concerns from the police, you will not be able to begin the race more than five minutes after the official start. However, we are sometimes able to transfer your registration to a secondary race for that same event.

Weather, Safety, and Cancellation Policy

Our races are held despite rain, wind, sleet, or heat. However, GoGo Racing does retain the right to cancel, shorten, or alter any event or course due to weather, other acts of God, terrorism, or for any other reasons within or without the control of GoGo Racing. All entry fees are non-refundable, and may not be deferred toward a future event.

Race Delays

GoGo Racing, in conjunction with the local municipality, reserves the right to delay an event start for any reason, including weather. Typically we will delay up to 30 minutes prior to start if there is lightening. It is unlikely that we will delay for heat, rain, or snow.

Course Alterations

GoGo Racing may alter a published course at any time and for any reason, including, but not limited to, road conditions, runner safety, and local municipality requirements.

Race Cancellations

In the event of extreme weather conditions, GoGo Racing reserves the right to cancel the race or run it as an un-timed fun run without advance notice and as advised by the Police and Fire/EMS Departments. If this should be necessary: prizes may be converted to random prizes. No entry fee refunds will be made. The final decision regarding the fate of the race will be made between 30 minutes to an hour prior to the scheduled start of the race and will be announced over the race public address system.

Rain Dates

We do not have rain dates for events.

Tax Deductions

GoGo Racing is a non-profit 501-c3. Your entry fees cover the expenses of the event and you receive tangible/non-tangible goods in exchange for your registration fee which include a safe and quality event, certified course, timing, scoring, post-race food, and entertainment. Typically, only donations above the registration fees that are made directly to the charity are eligible for tax deductions, however, you should confer with your tax professional.

Stroller Policy

Like many in the running community, we believe a fit family is a happy family and allow strollers in our races as long as the course and/or local government allows. However, we do ask that participants with strollers start in the back, refrain from weaving through packs of runners, and yield the right of way to other runners.

We also ask that you not provide a timing chip for your stroller-bound child. We include only official participants who have run the entire course in our results and awards system. Contacting the race director and letting him or her know that your child was inadvertently entered in the results can save other goal-oriented children many tears.

*Anyone who uses the assistance of wheels is ineligible for awards.

Pet Policy

While we love pets, we ask that you refrain from inviting them onto our race courses if said race is further than 5k or has an excess of 500 registrants. We also ask that any spectating dogs or pets be kept on 5 foot non-retractable leashes.

Photo Policy

By registering for our events, you agree to the use of your name and photograph in broadcasts, newspapers, brochures, and other media without compensation. Also, we often provide complimentary download of photos and videos taken at our events. These photos are the property of GoGo Racing and may not be used for non-personal use without our expressed written consent.

Time Limit

Our hope is to never enforce time limits on our races. However, certain municipalities have regulations that must be followed and we will post this information on the respective event site when necessary. In the most stringent cases, participants will be required to travel at a pace of 16 minutes per mile (50 minutes for a 5k and 1hr 40 minutes for a 10k).

Awards

Barring uncontrollable or extenuating circumstances, our awards ceremony will begin ten minutes after the last participant finishes the last race. All awards will be given based on gun time. Chip time is only for your personal enjoyment and record keeping.

We need your help

Organizing a race takes a massive team effort. No matter how much work the host team puts in to set up systems beforehand, it still takes enthusiastic helpers to accomplish everything necessary on race day. Volunteers are critical to the success and safety of the race. Once you get involved, you’ll find that the race atmosphere is exciting, and you will genuinely enjoy helping the runners!

Pre-Race Help

We need help marketing. Whether you encourage a friend to run, post about the race on Facebook, or pass out race flyers in sponsoring businesses, every little bit helps.

Race Day Roles

Course Marshall
Cheer on runners as they pass by, make sure they go the right direction, and make sure they are safe from traffic.

Hydration Station
Take a spot with a couple of friends on the course to offer water to the runners and even splash them if that’s what they want!

Registration
Make sure that participants are able to fill out the computer registration form quickly and pass out race numbers, t-shirts, and runner bags.

Packet Pick-up
Spend some time at GoGo sports the day before the race to get people their race number before the rush. Or, help the registration crew with pre-registered runners on event day.

Hospitality
Help guide the parking process on race day, welcome everyone and point them in the right direction, and make sure finishers get plenty of food and water.

Set-up and Pack-up
We like for everyone to help the set-up and pack up process. But, if you are an early bird, or can’t come until later, we always need more help with these two volunteer intensive times.

Race Day Timeline

3 hours before race start: the first volunteers start arriving to help get the set-up process started.
– They will help put cones and directional arrows out on the course, build the finish line, pop-up tents and tables, set out food/water, and make sure everything looks good.
1 hour before race start: Basically all set-up is complete and registration opens for the first arriving runners
30 minutes before race start: Course volunteers make sure they know what to do and head out to their positions.
10 minutes before race start: Registration closes

Race start: Everyone cheers like crazy!
– The fastest runners run just under five minute pace and the back of the packers do just fine at 25 minute pace.

10 minutes after the last finisher: awards ceremony begins
35 minutes after last finisher: awards ceremony concludes
1 minute after awards: pack-up begins
1 hour after awards: pack-up concludes

Cheer on your runner!

A race can never have too many fans.

We love the support of friends, family, and even complete strangers! Your crazy comments help take our mind off the pain and focus on getting those precious seconds we need for our next personal record.

Feel free to check out the course map and find the best places to cheer.

Help us fund the race!

Runner registration revenue only covers a portion of the total event cost. In order to benefit the charity as much as possible, we need help.

Let us know if you can donate anything in return for some great event day marketing. Whether it is money, inflatables, or tasty bagels, anything you can do is sure to help raise money and make the event better for all involved.

We’d love to talk with you about how to make the race as mutually beneficial as possible.
