30k Details

The 30k and 30k relay starts on Riverside Drive in Rome GA, and finishes inside Ridge Ferry Park.

Date: Saturday, December 7, 2013

Location: The Rome 30k starts on Riverside Drive and finishes inside Ridge Ferry park in Rome, Georgia.

Start Time: 8:00 am

Getting Here/Parking:
Parking is available in Ridge Ferry Park at the Start line.  See Map of Downtown Rome GA.
Please arrive at least one hour prior to the start in order to park, leave your personal items at Bag Drop, and get to the start.  Below are directions to the race:

Bag Drop: Bag drop will be available and labeled at a tent on race day beginning at 6 am.  Follow the signs for exact location.  To check your gear prior to the race, please use the bag tag given to you at packet pickup.  We cannot store bags other than the ones that have bag tags.  Please don’t leave valuable items in your bag.  The Rome 30k and GoGo Running are not responsible for lost or missing bags.

All checked bags must be retrieved from the Bag Drop room by 3:00 pm on December 7.  Any remaining bags will be made available for pickup on Monday, December 9.

Aid stations will be approximately every 2 miles, and will have water and sports drink as well as first aid kits.

Portable toilets will be on the course (Please see course map for exact location.).

Energy gel will be available on the course every aid station.

The course time limit is 4hours and 45mins (16:00 min/mile pace). Runners still on the course after this time will be offered a ride back to the finish line.

Please be aware that the course is not entirely closed to traffic.  Please stay on the right side of the road at all times.

For the safety of our runners, no pets or wheeled conveyances including bikes, strollers, baby joggers or in-line skates are permitted on the course.  Please do not wear headphones, as you will not be able to hear approaching cars or directions from race officials.

DIRECTIONS TO THE RACE
FROM ATLANTA/ I-75 NORTHBOUND

  1. I-75 North to exit 290—Canton/Rome.
  2. Left off the exit and follow Highway 411 South/20 West
  3. Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto ramp
  4. Merge onto US-41N/
  5. In Rome—Highway 411 South/20 West/Turner McCall Blvd. (K-Mart—Home Depot—CVS Pharmacy on your right)
  6. Turn right onto Riverside Drive (at Starbucks).
  7. Follow signage to available parking.

 

FROM CHATTANOOGA/ I-75 SOUTHBOUND

  1. I-75 South to the Exit 312 (Rome/Fairmount)
  2. End of the exit turn right
  3. You will be on Highway SW/ GA-53 W.
  4. Continue to follow GA-53 W.
  5. Turn RIGHT onto GA-1 LOOP N/GA-53 SPUR W.
  6. Turn LEFT onto RIVERSIDE PKWY NE.
  7. Follow signage to available parking.

5k Details

The Rome 5k starts on Riverside Drive and goes around the Rome Braves stadium and finishes in Ridge Ferry Park.  Runners will enjoy post-race massage, refreshments, and music.

Course Time Limit: The 5k course has a 1.5 hour time limit (18:00 per mile pace). The course will close at 10:30 am, and any runners still on the course will be picked up and brought back to the finish.

Aid Stations: There is one aid station with water and sports drink on the 5k course, at mile 1.5.

Spectator Info/Cheering Zones: Spectators may park in any of the lots and decks around Ridge Ferry Park.  (See Map of Downtown Rome GA)  There are many great locations to see the runners.

Awards/Shirts:  Long sleeve shirts will be provided to all 5k runners at the Finish line after the race.

Awards will be given on race day to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall male/female finishers and first male/female masters finishers, as well as the top three male/female finishers in each age group: Under 6, 6-7, 8-9, 10-14,15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74 and 75+.

Timing/Results:  All runners will be timed using the ChronoTrack B-Tag Timing System.  The B-Tag is a lightweight tag that stays attached to the back of the runner’s race number.  Each runner’s start time begins as they cross the start line, and a net finish time is calculated as they cross the finish line.

Official results and finisher’s certificates will be available online.

Do you love to get involved, but can’t run the race this year? Join us as a volunteer! Volunteers are critical to the success and safety of our event. The race atmosphere is exciting, and volunteers will find they enjoy being part of the fun! All volunteers will receive a t-shirt.

Please indicate all areas you are interested in, and we will contact you. You don’t have to work all the hours indicated for a particular job – just let us know when you’re available.

Number Pickup- hand out shirts and race numbers to runners (10 am-8pm)
Expo Set up – help vendors set up for the expo at the Forum (10 am-5pm)

Entertainment – arrange for or play music along race course and at finish line (8am-3 pm)

Finish Line – hand out water and food at the finish line (7 am-3 pm)
Timer – at finish line with timing machine-serves as backup timing to chips (7 am-3 pm)
Water Station – hand out water and sports drinks on the race course (8 am-3 pm)
Course Monitor – stationed at turns on the race course to make sure runners go the right way (8 am-3 pm)
Bag Drop – assist runners in storing their personal items during the race (6 am-4pm)
Clean Up – help clean up the race courses and finish area

Top
